Request a Library Card

An Etna Library card is a portal to a world of physical and digital information, history, knowledge, and entertainment. Your card will work at both the Etna Library and the Howe Library.

Stop by the Etna Library during our regular hours and bring an ID with your address on it, and we'll be happy to set you up.

Or, visit the shared Howe/Etna Library catalog to sign up for your card.

(You can select your 'Home Library' as Etna on the top of the sign-up form)

[Note: Etna & Howe are two separate libraries with reciprocal borrowing privileges for all cardholders.]

Cards are available at no cost to:

  • Hanover residents & taxpayers

  • Dartmouth students

  • Students & staff @ Hanover public school

  • Hanover institutions: Hanover business owners, non-profits & preschools

Non-Resident Cards:

  • $140 / year for an individual or families

  • $95 / year for senior citizens (65+)

  • $60 / 3 months

  • Cash or personal check payments for non-resident cards can be made at the Etna Library.

Renew

Visit the Catalog, where you can log-in to your account and renew items you have checked-out.

Library materials may be renewed up to two times, except for items with holds.

Couriers

The Etna Library arranges for couriers to travel between the Etna and the Howe libraries every single weekday. (Our couriers are all volunteers and are amazing)!

If you see an item in the catalog that is at Howe, but not at Etna, you can request to have it sent to Etna for pickup. It works in reverse, too! The Etna Library also sends Etna-owned items over to the Howe Library for pickup everyday.

Your item will arrive quickly at your preferred library and you can start reading, watching, listening, or playing!
